'Not for profit' projects
.We currently have a number of 'not for profit' schemes in place to give the opportunity of cycling to the people of coventry.
1) Starting in June/ July 2009 we will be introducing a childrens maintainence course, the aim of these sessions will be to provide children with the skills necessary to continue cycling in to adulthood. These will be delivered over 6 sessions and will cover general cycle awareness, fixing a puncture, adjusting gears and brakes, lubrication, riding safety. In order to for the course to be truly accessible to all we will provide cycles to those children who do not have one- contact us for further information
2) We are currently develping a scheme called 'cycling into employment' the aim of which is to give people within the city the means of accessing employement- cycles will be provided on a cost free basis to coventrians who are in need of transport to secure employment. Referrals are accepted through local benifit agency offices and through the refugee centre (coventry), we also consider individual applications on a case by case basis.
3) Oral history project- through our recycling project we are gathering a collection of bikes which though use and memeory contain a valuable oral record of the history of coventry, cycling and the people of coventry. We will be collecting these together and taking them with us on our visits to local schools. We hope to be working closely with the transport museum to develop a perminent space where these stories can be recorded.
